On September 7, 2023, Mrs. KISHIDA Yuko, Spouse of the Prime Minister, visited Jakarta, to attend the 43rd ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations)-related Summit meetings. Mrs. Kishida visited PT Jaya Obayashi and exchanged views with company representatives regarding PT Jaya Obayashi ongoing commitment to Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) initiatives that have been implemented and continue to grow across the business.

In February 2023, Jaya Obayashi became the second company in Indonesia and first in the Construction Industry to be awarded ISO 30415, an international standard on human resource management—diversity and inclusion for urging organizations to strengthen their businesses through the use of various human resources.
Jaya Obayashi was recognized for employing individuals with disabilities in its in-house café and providing dedicated facilities for Breastfeeding mothers.

Aligned with Japan’s Act on Promotion of Women’s Participation and Advancement in the Workplace, one of Japanese government program, the company has established action plans to be implemented across the company’s global network. Not only PT Jaya Obayashi has implemented unbiased recruitment and hiring practices, the company also actively encourages female employees to take on leading roles and creates safe work environment for women to thrive, whether it’s in the office or at construction sites.
Mrs. Rina Ambarwati, HR & GA Manager of PT Jaya Obayashi, explained that the company has taken concrete actions to show the company’s commitment to D&I, and one of them was to provide a lactation room within its head office compound for the company’s female employees. Lactation room is a private space where working mothers can express breast milk during working hours comfortably. The room provides a quiet, clean, and secure environment, equipped with amenities such as comfortable seating, electrical outlets for breast pumps, refrigeration facilities for storing expressed milk, and even informational resources related to breastfeeding. By providing this accommodation, PT Jaya Obayashi is hoping that the female employees will be able to work productively without having to feel that they must choose between their careers and childcare.
